This client saw our canopies installed on their friends’ existing pergola, designed and installed by a local Landscape Designer.
They were referred to me by the designer to see what I might do to replace their rotting, wooden pergola that generated an annoying “checkerboard” shade. The tired, old structure eliminated any possibility for star gazing at night and reduced natural light during cloudy, winter days.
After consulting with the client and reviewing several options, we determined the best solution was modifying the ShadeTree Canopy Greenbriar model by substituting the standard 4” square columns with 8” square columns to enhance the profile of the structure and cover existing post anchors. ShadeTree’s patented, spring-loaded locking mechanism provides peace of mind by “releasing” the canopies on windy days which allows the owners to leave their canopies projected and cools their home on those hot summer days. During the cool, cloudy, winter days the retracted canopies provide more natural light in their family room.
The client chose the beige, aluminum reinforced vinyl with Captain Navy marine grade awning fabric that will afford them many years of cool, stress free outdoor living. With recessed LED lights installed on the bottom of each projection beam their new ShadeTree Canopy system has transformed their ordinary back patio into an attractive, maintenance free, gathering spot for entertaining, day or night. And, they now have a quiet, peaceful setting where they will enjoy reading or working without that irritating “checkerboard” shade pattern.
